Exciting News

As many of you know our organization has grown greatly over the last year. When Owl’s Nest started we were working strictly out of our dedicated volunteers’ own homes. As our call volume has continued to increase we realized that they need for a flight conditioning facility in the area is too great to not take the initiative to establish one.

We knew that this task would be too large to take on alone which led us to begin looking for conservation partners. Now with much appreciation and excitement we at Owl’s Nest are pleased to announce that we are one of thirty worldwide institutions to receive the Seaworld/Busch Gardens Conservation fund Grant.

We find it ironic that the three words that they use to describe themselves is ‘Passion, Dedication and Commitment’ in the what they want mirrored in the partners they pick to support.

The Fund was established as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit private foundation in 2003, and initially provided resources for a wide variety of conservation programs worldwide that aligned with four key areas: animal rescue and rehabilitation, conservation education, habitat protection, and species research.

With our director being a vested retired employee of eleven years with them, spending minimal now four days a week in the presence of their incredible vet team staff and assistants, her whole world has come full circle. She would not have it any other way!

The Grant we submitted was titled ‘Taking Flight’ for Busch and many others that will help us get the Owl’s Nest Flight Conditioning Facility up and running so that we can continue to work closely with them to have such a large positive impact on our local wildlife.

Kris, our rehabber, said “I am humbled that Busch/Seaworld has chosen us out of so many and that they see the same PASSION, DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT that I see in each day in every member of my 80 plus and growing daily volunteers! I look forward to our partnership hopefully for years to come!”

We are so thankful to everyone on our team and all of our supporters. Without their continued hard work and support we would not be able to continue our efforts to protect and conserve our native wildlife.

If you would like to make a contribution that goes specifically toward this project you can make a donation to the project’s GoFundMe page- https://www.gofundme.com/OwlsNestFlight or if you would like to make a general donation to support our organization it can be made using the PayPal button below.
